First cesarean

First cesarean

Hi mums,
I had my first cesarean over a week ago. It was classed as an emergency cesarean although there was absolutely no rush as baby was quite happy where he was and not distressed in the slightest. I was happy to agree to it as he had removed himself from being engaged to breach within 15minutes as I was being transferred to another hospital and baby was premature. Things went well and baby needed no assistance once he was born which is fantastic! The hospital transferred me back to our original hospital a short 6hrs after my cesarean and told my hubby and I that we were to travel in our own car. They offered me no wheel chair so I assumed it was okay to walk so I did. I then proceeded to walk into our original hospital and got halfway up the hallway of maternity when the midwives spotted me and yelled at me to stop walking and ran at me with a wheel chair. The next day my cesarean wound was very swollen but thought it was normal until they checked the wound. Once word got around they all politely told me I was nuts and I shouldn't have walked that far. A week and a bit later it is still quite swollen and I am only getting all feeling back around the wound. My question is, how long does it take for the wound swelling to completely disappear? I'm aware it'd take more than a week but I feel like it's still as swollen and tender as it was a week ago. The midwives tell me it looks good and normal so I'm not worried there is something wrong I was just wondering how long some other people took for the swelling to disappear completely?

Like any major op it'll take a few weeks - mine took months to be completely pain free. Take it easy, do a little bit of walking each day around the house, but don't go running any marathons :p

2 weeks i was feeling good. End of 3rd week it started splitting and kept gealing and splitting after that. I kept seeing doctors and they kept sayibg it was fine and it wasnt infected. By 10w i noticed a bit of pus come out of one of the tiny splits so the doctor finally gave me antibiotics. It started healing then got sore again. I am 12w post cs and got another lot of antibiotics yesterday because its still sore and infected. Pissed off that they didnt give me antibiotics earlier. Try not to have baths as i find it makes it worse. Keep a pad over it and air out when you can. Take some valtarin and pabadol. Found valtarin is better then nurofen. Thus was my 4th baby but 1st cs because if breech baby

Sorry I cannot comment about caesareans but do have a question about the care you received. I've been told I need to birth elsewhere to my local hospital. There's been no mention of transferring back which ideally I would love to do. Did you organise the transfer or request it or was it all done via the hospital. Thanks.
