We are in the midst of planning/booking etc and wondering what the 'usual' cost of wedding photography is.. I can see merit in the seemingly big $$ as I know the work that goes into editing them, as well as equipment, training, time etc... But just wondering if you'll share what you spent and do you think k it was worth it? What have you done with the photos since?

I think ours was about $1600. She was with us from 11am-9pm and we got 1150 edited images. We also got some prints and an album. Her prices have gone up now but we reckon we got a great deal! The photos were amazing and we got our wedding featured in a wedding magazine because of her photos. We have made a feature wall of the photos in our lounge room and I love it. So so worth it! :-)
We actually got a fairly cheap photographer, biggest mistake EVER! Definitely my biggest and only regret of my wedding. If i could do it again, i would pay the extra and get an amazing photographer because unfortunately memories fade and your wedding day is one of the best days of your life. When i look at my photo's, all I feel is disappointment. My 5 year old could take better photo's.
From memory my brother paid around $3,000 for theirs and they were really happy with them. There were 2 photographers on the day so they got loads of photos from all angles.
10yrs ago I paid $1300 for ours which included an album, approx 6hrs at the wedding. Other quotes I got were around $1500/2000
I paid $1500. That was for 5 hours, all digital images and an 80 page photo book (not album). I didn't need all the getting ready photos and she left after speeches... It was a small wedding and i had two kids - including a newborn, I didn't need hours of posing for stupid self-indulgent images. Just do your research and check out the online galleries. If you have a baby/family photographer, see if they do weddings, if you have kids that is, our photographer has kids and works with kids so was very flexible on the day and we not only got all the important couple shots, but some great family photos too.
$1000: entailed a couple of hours of professional photographer, some prints, and a disc of all images.
During reception we had a couple of our cameras floating around and ended up with some great candid shots and video.
We could only use hamilton islands photographers we paid $900 we hot a stack of photos in a box. They we hiddious.
we told her we were willing to go in the water she promissed the world they look like happy snaps. We use photos taken by family. Shame such a stunning place it looks like a beach anywhere.
