Going into real estate

I am looking at going into the real estate business property manager. Can any one tell me about what you do? Do you have to work a lot? I dont want to miss out on my daughters life. Ive never been the brightest student but i did do vet nursing and got high credits and a few distinctions, but im not good at maths. I wanted to do this years ago but my family told me i wouldn't be smart enough to do it and this has really ruined my confidence. Is there a lot of maths involved? I dont want to start it and find out I cant continue it.

If you can add up, subtract and do % you'll be fine. Property Management is full on and needs lots of attention to detail, process orientation - task after task all day. But can be very rewarding if you get into a good team (like any job I suppose) Go for it!

No i dont think you need to be overly academic for it. Yes there would be some maths involved but once you learn the formulas i think you would be fine.
From what i can see the best skill a real estate agent can have is people skills and customer service, being friendly and approachable and knowing your customers needs and wants. Definitely give it a go as it is obviously something you are passionate about pursuing

If it's something you really want to do then go for it. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't
I have been in the same job for nearly 7 years now and for the last 3 I've wanted to do something else and to study but was too scared as I thought I wasn't smart enough etc. I finally took the plunge and have been studying for the last few months. It's been hard as I am still working full time but I am really enjoying it and so far have done a lot better on assessments than I thought I would. Put your mind to something and you'll be surprised how good you are.

If maths is the only thing you are worried about then I think you will be fine.

There is a lot of work involved. Trust accounts paying invoices maintenance routine inspections leasing properties (showing ,entry & exit reports) leases rent arrears and then every day tasks people coming into to the office to talk, phoning in. You also have to have a hard skin as you deal with some not great things. The money defiantly isn't great for all the work time and effort I put in. But give it ago what have you got to loose.
