Pill - the best? And what type?

Hi ladies!

I'm a mum of two kids under 4. Currently considering my contraceptive options - lately we've been using condoms but it's just annoying (for us both) and inconvenient. I used the Pill prior to having kids and I liked it and think I want to go back. I take another medication every day (so "remembering" is never an issue).

And before I get comments on other female contraceptives - they don't interest me at all.

Question is - what are the best Pills out there right now? Has anyone found any more successful than others eg in terms of low/no side effects? Also - Combined Pill VS Mini Pill?

Thoughts welcomed x

I think everyone reacts differently to different pills. What works for me might be awful for you. I think this is a discussion to have with your doctor, as you will be able to give them a full history, tell them what you used before and what you did/didn't like about it.

yep she is right everyone reacts to them differently.

even within families my sister can tolerate some I can't and I can tolerate some which made her sick as a dog. all you can do is give them a try and see how it goes. the good news is most long active contraceptives are available (the hormone used) in the form of a pill to take daily so that if you do have a reaction to the hormone specifically you can stop it without having to go through the challenge of having devices removed or waiting for injections to wear off.

doctors also seem to have a preference. I don't know if it is due to the history of PCOS and Endometriosis but our doctor besides Mirena and Implanon has stuck almost exclusively to using the Mini pill to regulate hormones. the longer acting options I have found for me actually do tend to carry more side effects with them than you get just with the pill. TBH if you know something works stick with it, ask for what you have taken before.
