Slow eater!! Help!!

Hello sisters!
My 4yr old will eat anything and everything that is cooked and put on his plate. He is not and has never been a fussy eater at all and i am SO grateful for that! However, he has to be the most slowest eater on this planet! As a single full-time working Mama who holds 100% custody i would like ALOT done between 6 and 8pm (bath, cook dinner, eat dinner, wash up, practice with writing letters and numbers, read books, bed time). He can sit at the dining table for up to 2 hours on his own finishing his meal. My brother suggested using 'tough love' and sending him straight to bed if he continues just leaving the food in his mouth but i don't like that idea because what if he starves!! Has this happened to you? Can you suggest some tips for me? Thank you!!!! =)

My sister used to be so slow she would fall asleep at the table!

its actually better for him to take his time eating. he is less likely to over eat. maybe break it up into an afternoon tea once he is home from school a small dinner and then a small supper just before bed. it will still take forever but you are taking breaks that he can wash and get his jobs and homework done. it is healthier to break our meals up anyway so win win.

Yes its the age i think, turn off tv and say what you need to do ie) you can have cartoons once youve eaten dinner, washed your face and brushed teeth, if you miss it because youre slow then you miss it. I also sont see the point in punishing somethinh he cant really help and turning mealtimes into tears and fights, especially if hes a good eater, just at the end of your meal feed him, shovel it in and say well done lets go.

I'm a slow eater too. It's not just a kid thing, it's nothing for me to take an hour to eat dinner.
