How to help my child feel comfortable at dads

Hi IM's

My son (4) is going to have his first sleep over at his dad's. He said he is sad to leave me for the night and wants me to stay as well but that won't be happening so I would like some ways to help him feel comfortable to spend the night away from me for the first time. I will pack his favourite teddy that he sleeps with and the book we read together before he goes to sleep but I would like some other suggestions to help him please.

Make sure your son knows that although you love him you will be enjoying yourself doing activities he wouldn't enjoy while he is away. Its important he knows that you won't be sad while he is away.

Give him something he knows you love. It will reassure him that you are coming back for it (him). Bizarre I know, what could be more important to come back for than him but littlies don't see it that way.
