Disrespectful boy

I would like some advice from other mums, please.
My 9 year old son is in grade 4 and has been dreadfully disrespectful to his teachers, refusing go do as he is told, swearing, running off etc. He doesn't lean this at home, as I don't like my kids to swear, and always pull them up if they speak back.
It's getting out of hand, he's affecting the learning of his classmates and having to do 1:1 work with the principal. Please help, I don't know how to fix what's broken ?

My 8 and 10 year olds do this, they both have autism and sensory/auditory processing disorders
It might be worth looking into see if something bigger is underlying

I'd be involving professionals. Is he coping with the school work, is there anything that's been missed (dyslexia, anxiety etc). I'd start with a child psych and paediatrician. Kids generally don't want there peers to see them act like this so something is going on and it might not be under his control. Some kids with anxiety when under the slightest bit of pressure go into fight or flight mode and will do anything to escape.

Perhaps your child just doesn't do well in that class?? Have you tried changing teachers?? Seeing who he hangs out with?? Perhaps it is an attention seeking thing - or peer pressure to appear 'cool'. There are millions of reasons children act out. At this age you could sit him down and have a chat to him - or even get the school councillor or a trusted family friend to do it. I notice most tend to focus on the 'disorders' as a sollution - but think back to your childhood....did you ever act out just because you were trying to impress someone, or you were mad at someone? Don't treat him as a little kid who is unable to process his feelings and emotions - treat him like a young man who needs to take responsibility for his actions!! Parenting is super hard work because no two are alike - ever! Good luck!
