I have am about to take a DVO out on my ex in NSW the court hearing is next month and I'm wanting to move me and my son to VIC. My family is there and I feel like its time to start over. But I'm wondering what to do about the DVO as it won't stand when I move states or that is what I have been told. Does any one know anything about this? Can I get it up dated to my new state? I'm going to go ahead with it in NSW as I have come so far to not go ahead with it.

If you have a lawyer talk to them. If the police are representing you give them a call and ask them. I had an Avo taken out against my ex in nsw and was able to transfer to Qld as I left the state to return home to family. I had the police represent me and as soon as I landed in my home town (which was the very next day after ) I just had to apply at the courthouse. It went to court 2 weeks later and I was granted protection where I was. Definetly ask your lawyer or police officer handling your case. Good luck xox
