Homeschool

Does anyone here Home Educate??

Do you have a routine?
How do you plan what to do?
Did you send your kid/s to kindy first?
How do you set out your days?
What about LOTE? (Japanese)
What about music?
Good english and maths programs?

And anything else you can think of. :)

We are in Western Australia

Thanks :D

*** please, im not looking for negitive comments about homeschool. We have our reasons why we are doing this. My kids will not grow up being unsocialised weirdos. My kids have a very active social life and loads of friends. Yes i am qualified to teach them. Yes it is legal and nationally recognised.

I homeschooled my son for a few years for various reasons.

You apply through the education department in your state. When you apply they send out a huge amount of materials including a curriculum that you need to work within.

I found it very easy to do. Things like music, I did outsource as I have no music ability what so ever!!

This was about 10 years ago now but there are plenty of books that cover maths available.

Alternatively you can sign up for distance education through the catholic schools and they send you the worksheets/materials/ and assignments and you just supervise.

I found because I was only managing one child vs 21 we got through school work before lunch and then had free time, excursions, extra-curricular after lunch.

Hi, you could request to join 'The Natural Parent Perth'. I think a few of the kids are home schooled so you may get some good answers there

I worked as a governess for 5 years in qld. All of the kids were enrolled in distance education, there are a number of different schools that you can go through.

The ones we used had their set curriculum with worksheets etc and was very easy to follow. So I guess it depends who you register with as to what your experience will be.

You can also do kindy, music and languages through distance education (where we were you could anyway)

The most difficult part is managing seperate age groups but organisation is key. We had a set routine that mirrored a normal school, younger year levels can easily be finished by lunchtime. I have so much advise but it all depends on the ages of your kids. Feel free to get in touch with me if you like
