to become a councilor or not:
just wondering if someone on here has became a councilor in the same field as there personal torma. I've always wanted to do something with my life thats meaningful and i was put in a position with my councilor we're she actually started changing my life and id love to make just one person feel like that if i could but the question is has someone done this and hasn't been able to handle the stories as the field is sexual assult or regretted it. do you take the weight of there promblems or do you learn to keep it at the door

I am a Social Worker and am currently working as s Counsellor ins general counselling program. You learn to put professional boundaries in place when you start working in these types of field and also the importance of self care. I love my job, it's very rewarding and can also be quite confronting and challenging at times!! You learn to cope with the stresses though especially if you work in a supportive workplace.
