Hi ho hi ho, it's back to work I go

Hey IMs,
I am about to start back to full time work. Due to being a new role, and new organisation, there is no chance of going part time for the moment ( incase that's a suggestion). I was just wondering if mums have any tips. I know I need to be organised, we will pre prepare meals, my bubba is already on a routine, and family will be looking after him. I guess my thing I need help with is, preparing for separation, for me. A new job, new responsibilities and being away for massive amounts of time without bub. Any tips or hints, advice. Your positive and supportive comments are appreciated.

I’ve worked full time since I went back from mat leave when our sons where 12 months old. I won’t lie – it’s the hardest thing I have done but 7 years into it (our sons are at school), I can see we made the right choice and our life works well.

Expect that you will find it hard but you realistically need to give yourself about 6 months to settle down in terms of emotions.

Having family assistance is fabulous, I think that helps with guilt a little (although never feel guilty for providing for your family).

The reasons we go back to work are all varied. Someone once told me make your decision and own it and this phrase helps me when we are having a bad week because we are bit tired or stressed.

Good luck to you.
