Friendships

My 10 year old son is devested. His supposed best mate at school hasnt invited him to his birthday party. Im at a loss what to do. My boy finds it hard to make friends and this has crushed him. Should i text his mother and ask why, or just leave it???? Breaks my heart ?

I would leave it. What could possibly come of asking the mum? If she invites him, he will be there with a bunch of boys that didn't want him there? That would be akward for him. Just comfort him for now I think.

IMO. Ring the mum. Don't text her. Hopefully if they are best mates you know her from play dates and sleep overs. Just politely ask about the party and mention that your boy did not receive an invite although he thought they were best mates. Let her know an invite isn't necessary if the kids have fallen out but you were just checking. It may have been missed by mistake, be in your junk inbox, etc. She also may be able to give some insight into the spat that caused the falling out. Then you have somewhere to go on helping your boy move on.

Leave it. He is 10, it's up to your son to ask his friend why he didn't get an invite.

I'd leave it. Like someone already said if he gets an invite now it would be awkward for him, the birthday child, his mother and you.
It's his birthday he can invite who he likes. Hopefully whatever the reason he wasn't invited resolves itself.

My daughter is 10 and at this age they go through so much friend drama. I've learnt to step back and let her handle things. The only time I would step in would be if she was getting bullied. Just encourage him to play with other kids and not think about it too much. Unfortunately life is full of disappointments. Hard to watch them go through it, but it's all part of growing up.

Do something special with him that day.

I wouldn't ask the mum that seems rude to me. What I would do is talk to his teacher about it without him present. I am a teacher and I usually know what happening in my students friendship groups.
