Menstrual Cups - sounds disgusting hey? But WOW!

Menstrual Cups - sounds disgusting hey?

So after months of reading questions and replies on here about menstrual cups, despite how icky they sounded (but isn't a tampon gross anyway?), I finally took the plunge and invested in a menstrual cup, approx $50 for a Lunette.
WOW! Got my period today, trusted the cup so didn't use back up pads or liners, easy to insert, I braved it to a Pilates class using it for the very first time and it was amazing. Totally forgot I had my period, didn't stress about leakage at all, couldn't feel anything and it was SO easy to remove and rinse in the shower tonight. You can wee easily with it in, no nasty tampon releasing chemicals into your body and we help reduce hazards to the environment from pads and tampons, no running to the toilet to change when you feel tampon/pad leakage, just empty your cup every 12 hours, no more bulky pads to bed, I'll save $20 a month on future sanitary items. I only wish I'd done it sooner. It's so hard not to rave about it to every female I encounter so here I am! Don't delay ladies, try one today (and no I am not a menstrual cup sales person lol!)

I've been thinking about it, but am in serious denial (or hope) that menopause will hit any day now and so won't need one.
I'm living in lala land!!!

Go you! I have been using one for just over a year now, and I will never go back to disposable items. Best thing I ever did!

Sounds wonderful. I would love to try it but I'm worried after having 2 very large babies my vagina is now stretched, would it hold in place? I also suffer mild prolapse (i can't wear tampons)

They recommend you speak with a doctor befor trying with prolapse. The stretch question there is 2 sizes one for ladies who havent had babies and a larger one for ladies with babies

They sound ok.. But how do they go with extremely heavy periods? The same flow as after you have a baby.. I go through 2-3 packets of maternity/overnight pads each cycle.

I have a really heavy day and night on my heavy night mine lasted 10hrs the next day that was heavy I changed midday... then it was back to every 12hrs they hold alot more then any pad or tampon just got to get used to it judt like when you first started pads and tampons. Good luck they really are great
