The internal struggle

Hi sisterhood.

I'm not sure what I am asking in this, more that I need to get this off my chest.

In September last year I started a new job. I was so happy to be out of the toxic environment I was in previously.

Fast forward to November, the director of the company I work for takes me for coffee and tells me that he is concerned about the amount of sick leave I had taken by this point (2 days 3 hours.....) the following Sunday I got really really sick and could not go to work the next day. I went to a doctor, and I got a medical certificate on my own accord they did not ask for it.

Tuesday evening I get a call from the director saying we aren't going to continue this.

Since 24 November I have been out of work. I've engaged a lawyer for a multitude of reasons and we are waiting for a court date. They let me go because of my health but had no concern for my health sending me into an asbestos contaminated building with no PPE or training.

I've been applying for every job I can. Right from what I am qualified in to supermarkets and cinemas.

Due to this going through the court system I am not able to tell anyone why I can't divulge the issues with my previous employer. Why I was only there a few months, why they aren't a reference.

I'm struggling internally. I feel like such a failure because I was screwed over by others. No one wants to hire someone who isn't presently in work.

I have an amazing partner who is being really supportive through this financially and emotionally but I've gone from being a successful business woman to sitting at home in my pyjamas most days just crying.

All i can say is dont give up! around christmas and new year not many places put on staff. Wait until everyone gets back from holidays etc and they are in 'serious' work mode again and you may find business' are ready to start taking on staff. Goodluck!!

You taken a big unexpected hit so too speak , its going to take time to get back up but you will when this 'down' period is over. Its easy to say but when you are down it feels like things will never be the same. Can l suggest seeking some counseling this will help you fall further down and hopefully give you a lift you need to go out and kick butt like you used too. Its ok to have a ruff patch, you are being to hard on your inner self ... you will find work when you arent so emotional. One thing at a time, one day at a time , all the best

Fill out the expressions of interest / apply for any role that suits
There are enough obstacles out there without you getting in your own way and creating / holding onto more.. Also engage with a independent job agent ( not the centrelink ones lol) ie Hays, Manpower, Angel, Butler etc they are free are they are motivated ..
