Naming day or baptism

Naming day or baptism

Naming day or baptism,
My first child had a naming day as my husband didn't like idea of baptism as we aren't religious I'm baptised catholic but as husband not baptised. With my son naming day it was very nice however hardly anyone came as they all said it wasn't a real thing. I really just want to celebrate new baby but everyone saying for it to be real it has to be a baptism. So what is common these days just a naming day and not worry about people who don't come or just get both kids baptised and be traditional

I didn't bother with either. Just had a bbq invited people to meet the baby

We had a naming day for both of our boys - it's an opportunity for friends and family not only to meet the new sprog, but to talk and socialise and be merry in a comfortable situation that doesn't involve professing any beliefs you don't agree with. Some people felt comfortable getting up and saying a few words, some read poems (Dr Seuss), and others took lots of photos.
If your family can't understand it is about your new baby and family, that you don't need to go to a church to celebrate, then they are missing out.
