Teen bed wetting

Teen bed wetting

Miss 15 has started wetting the bed.
She’s never had this problem.
We’ve done a full blood work up and urine testing and all came back normal.
There has not been any significant or stressful events.
Any advice on where/what to do now.
Best way to get rid of urine smell out of linen. As well as tips on trying to prevent it.
I’d be for ever grateful.

Firstly Request a glucose tolerance test from your Dr, to rule out type 1 diabetes.

There may be something going on a school that is affecting her or something that she can’t tell you. Make sure you rule anything like this out with her.

It’s unusual to just start bed wetting at that age, when she’s never done it before. Is it every night? Is she losing weight or weeing more than usual when she is awake.? Is she drinking alot more than usual? Type 1 diabetes can cause this. request a type 1 diabetes antibodies test.

As someone who wet the bed for my whole childhood, the stress of trying to stop it can compound the problem. I realised in early adulthood that it was most likely the result of being molested as a child and it was never addressed. I would test everything to rule out anything medical and maybe get her to talk to a phychologist? I really feel for her, it’s embarrassing.

Definitely agree with the Psychologist. There may be something she does not feel safe speaking about or she may be experiencing anxiety and not be aware this is how it is expressing itself. Could be even social anxiety and not necessarily obvious. At that age we just want to fit in.

I would also be on to a good probiotic just in case.

Use a scoop of laundry soak in the wash as well as the washing powder, It helps with the odour.
